The Client
A historic 16th-century Catholic Church located on the outskirts of Birmingham, set within the picturesque grounds of a National Trust property in Warwickshire. This church is not only a place of worship but also a treasured venue for weddings, christenings, and regular Mass. Sense PAT Testing has proudly served this church for almost 10 years for electrical testing, making it one of our longest-standing returning clients.
The Project
During a busy day of scheduled visits, our first stop was this magnificent, centuries-old church. With its stunning architecture and striking religious artwork overlooking the altar, the setting is always a privilege to work in.
The building contains around 50 electrical items, ranging from:
-
Audio equipment
-
Vacuum cleaners
-
Portable heaters
-
And—crucially—the kettles that keep the congregation supplied with cups of tea!
We were also informed of a rather unique use for one of the kettles: it’s occasionally used to warm the water in the baptismal font during christenings. A great reminder that every appliance plays an important role, even in tradition-rich environments.
Our Work
We carried out a full, methodical PAT test across all portable appliances within the church. Due to the age and structure of the building, extra care is always taken when accessing and working around valuable items, delicate fittings, and heritage features.
The result? Every item tested passed, giving the church complete peace of mind that their appliances are safe for daily use and for all the important ceremonies they host throughout the year.
Outcome
-
Full compliance with PAT testing requirements
-
Safe, fully-operational appliances across the entire building
-
Continued protection for staff, parishioners, and guests
-
Long-standing client relationship strengthened into its tenth year
We are already looking forward to returning next year to support this beautiful church and continue playing our part in keeping historic community spaces safe.
